ACS Future City Teams Swept the NM Regional Competition!

ACS Delta City is the winner of 2016 New Mexico Regional Competition. The winning team, along with other two teams from Annunciation School, won top three places at New Mexico Future City Competition held on January 16 at the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History.

Each team wrote a research paper about futuristic technologies that engineers will develop for transportation, agriculture, communication, health, and solid waste disposal. Then they developed a team plan with goals and check points, designed a virtual city and presented the cities growth and statistics on a PowerPoint, built a city model out of recycled materials, and presented to judges and the public.

3rd Place - Greenyville: Cameron Eiting (8th), Xavier Johnson (8th),
Antonio Ruiz (6th), and Noah Garcia-Pieniadz (8th grade)

2nd Place - 4R Future: Nicholas Pascuzi , Zack Pena, Evan Muhlberger, Duncan
Levandoski, Nick Vargas, and Joshua Salas (7th grade)

1st Place - Delta City: Jacob Martinez , Preston Kite, Juan Ruiz, Ella Cummings, and Ryan Schwaner, (8th grade)

Best Essay - (Annunciation School - Delta City)
Best Physical Model - (Annunciation School - 4R Future)
Best Presentation - (Annunciation School - 4R Future)
Best Virtual City - (Annunciation School - Delta City)
Most Sustainable Food Production (Annunciation School - 4R Future)
People’s Choice – (Annunciation School - 4R Future)

The 1st Place team will be traveling to Nationals in Washington D.C.

We are currently raising funds to help sponsor the engineers of tomorrow’s trip to the National Future City Competition in Washington DC. Please support engineering in New Mexico by contributing to the airfare or hotel fees of two of our team members who were not sponsored by the competition and whose contributions were invaluable to the team.

Each airfare costs $350 round trip. They will share a hotel room that will cost approximately $1,200 for the five days at the location they are required to stay.
