Annunciation Catholic School teachers and staff are excited and ready to continue their partnership with families. ACS administrators and Task Force have been working to create a rigorous and safe re-entry plan in order to proceed with the journey of quality Catholic education that feeds students spiritually, emotionally, and intellectually.
On July 8, 1959 with a congregation of about 600 families, Our Lady of the Annunciation became a parish. While the construction of the first school building was under way, classes were held in rented rooms at St. Pius X High School. Dedication of the new school school took place on March 26, 1961. Today, 2,429 families are registered to the parish and the school serves 445 students in grades junior kindergarten to eight grade.
STEM integrates subjects in order to teach “21st-century skills” or tools in the classroom. It is simply a hands-on interdisciplinary approach for children to explore and learn how to apply a variety of skills and subjects. Whether it is research, science and mathematics, the aerospace industry, or the construction industry, every industry is about moving forward, solving problems, learning and pushing innovation to the next level.
Annunciation Catholic School is very proud to announce, for the third year in a row the same group of students, Citta Forte, will represent our school and the State of New Mexico in Washington, DC at the National Future City Competition in February.
October 1 was St. Therese of Lisieux’s Feast Day. She is the Jr. K’s class saint. To celebrate this special day, Jr. K had a visit from Sister Lisa Marie Doty. She read them a book about St. Therese the Little Flower.
ACS 4th graders oversee a school-wide recycling project and most recently began cultivating composting worms. The worms turn recyclable paper and cardboard into rich composting soil.
