Mr. Walsh graduated from Baylor University in Waco, TX with a Liberal Arts degree in Religion and German; 2/3 of a MA in Architecture at UNM and a Master's Degree in Education at UNM. He has taught 4th grade for 12 years in Albuquerque, 11 of those being here at ACS.
One of Mr. Walsh’s favorite moments of being a teacher at ACS is when the students behave well and work hard, which can earn them an extra recess, and then trying to keep up with them on the playground when we're playing tag. He is also excited about our vermicomposting project, with worms as a great partner to help us better care for God’s Creation.
Mr. Walsh and his wife, Catalina -- also known as Señora Salinas, who is from Bolivia, were married in 2011. He is slowly learning some Spanish, and loves going back to Bolivia every year or two to spend time with family and friends. They have a little rescue Yorkie named Ralphie, who's rather timid, but still great company. He enjoys sports - particularly skiing, bicycling, and tennis.
Mr. Walsh is amazed daily by the students – especially fourth graders – whom he obviously spends the most time with. “They're so caring, intelligent, hard-working, ambitious, and just all-around wonderful people. It's not everyone who gets to say that about who they work with every day...and then add that they're (only) nine or ten years old!”
