Señora Salinas grew up attending La Salle Catholic School in La Paz, Bolivia. She received her B.A. in Architecture and Construction from Nuestra Señora de La Paz University and worked as an architect in Bolivia for several years before moving to New Mexico. She attend CELAC program to learn English and earned a Master's in Architecture from UNM. Since 2008, she did study/work in Design Education for children of all ages through the Architecture and Design for Children program, and created a connection to teach Spanish. She became a Board Member for The School Zone Institute in Albuquerque, and since then she has been leading trainings, teaching at different institutions, and translating to help promote the program.
Señora Salinas is a Spanish Collaborator teacher for the Cervantes Institute, one of the largest institutions in the world dedicated to teach Spanish and Culture in Albuquerque. She has been teaching Spanish since 2010 on different programs including Mommy and Me, Afterschool classes, In-school programs, Art and Creativity in Spanish, tutoring individual or groups, Summer camps for kids, and online programs. She also teaches teens and adults. She is certified as a DELE test examiner.
Mrs. Salinas started working part-time at Annunciation in 2016, and she moved to working fulltime for this wonderful school in 2020. She is married to Mr. Austen Walsh (who also teaches 4
th grade at ACS) and has a rescue Yorkie named Ralphie who has learned a little bit of Spanish.
Outside of sharing her language and culture, Señora Salinas is an artist and loves to paint; she is a member of Amapolla Gallery in Old Town NM.
