Mrs. Cordova was raised Raton, NM where she attended Raton Catholic School. She received her B.S. in Elementary Education, with an endorsement in Early Childhood Education from NMSU in 1989. In 1996, she received her M.A. in Elementary Education from UNM. She is also endorsed in TESOL (Teaching English as a Second Language). She is a Level III teacher and was recognized as a Highly Effective Teacher by the New Mexico PED. The is her 31st year of teaching.
Mrs. Cordova believes that a positive environment and attitude is conducive to learning. She has high expectations for each of her students. She believes that strategic instruction is essential to learning. Students learn “how” to learn and become independent thinkers and learners.
She has been married for 27 years and is the mother of two children. Her 25-year-old son is a paramedic. Her daughter is 18 years old and a 2021 graduate of Sandia High School, who now attends UNM. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, listening to music, and photography.
