Mrs. Cordova was raised Raton, NM where she attended Raton Catholic School. She received her B.S. in Elementary Education K-8, with an endorsement in Early Childhood from NMSU in 1989. In 1996, she received her M.A. in Elementary Education from UNM. She is also endorsed in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), Language Arts and Social Studies. She is a Level III teacher and was recognized as a Highly Effective Teacher by the New Mexico PED. This is her 31st year of teaching.
Mrs. Cordova believes that a positive environment and attitude is conducive to learning. She has high expectations for each of her students. She believes that strategic instruction is essential to learning. Students learn “how” to learn and become independent thinkers and learners.
She has been married for 30 years and is the mother of two children. Her 28-year-old son is a paramedic/fire fighter. Her daughter is 21 years old and a senior at UNM. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family and 2 year old grandson, reading, listening to music, and photography.
