Ever since she was a little girl, Mrs. Cook knew she wanted to be a teacher. She loved playing “school” using her blackboard to teach her little brother (although it wasn’t her brother’s favorite make-believe game). She got her Bachelor’s degree in English Literature at the University at Albany. After a memorable experience as an English language tutor, Mrs. Cook received a Master’s degree in T.E.S.O.L. (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) at Hunter College. Finally, she earned a Master’s degree in Elementary Education K-8 at Grand Canyon University in order to better educate elementary age children.
Mrs. Cook has been teaching in K-5 schools since 2015. She strongly believes in fostering curiosity, providing student choice, and empowering students and families. She encourages her students to ask questions, take ownership of their learning, and take risks.
Outside of teaching, Mrs. Cook enjoys being outdoors and traveling. She likes playing sports and going on hikes, as well as watercolor painting and playing instruments. She’s incredibly excited to be part of the Annunciation school and community!
